A General Election shall be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 for the purpose of electing the Mayor and two Council Members.
Citizens desiring to be a candidate may file a Statement of Candidacy at the Town Hall located 119 West Berry Road and a Statement of Economic Interest on-line with the Ethics Commission. Books will be opened for filing on noon, January 27, 2012 and remain open during normal business hours until noon, February 10, 2012. The filing fee for the office of Mayor is $50.00, and for Council is $25.00.
This is a nonpartisan election, and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot.
Town residents desiring to vote in the upcoming election must be registered by March 3, 2012. To register, update voter registration, or obtain information on absentee ballots, please contact the Lexington County board of Voters Registration at 785-8361.
Polls shall open at Town Hall Court/Council chambers, 119 West Berry Road, on Election Day at 7:00 a.m. and remain open with no intermission or adjournment until 7:00 p.m.
At 9:00 a.m. on said Election Day, the County Election Commission will begin its examination of the absentee ballot envelopes at 605 West Main Street, suite 105, Lexington.
On Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 9:00 a.m., the Lexington County Board of Canvassers will hold a hearing to determine the validity of provisional ballots cast and to release the official results. This hearing will be held at 605 West Main Street, suite 105 Lexington.
