During the latter half of 2010, one of our primary patrol vehicles a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria was involved in an accident, as of no fault of the officer. The vehicle was a total loss, and subsequently the Town received $11,656.97 from Farm Bureau Insurance. Council approved closing a Police Equipment account that was put in place in the latter part of the 1980's and had not been active since the mid 1990's. The total of that account was $6,414.86. The town approved the sale of one of the older spare Crown Victoria patrol vehicle at the town auction in October 2010, at auction the car brought $1,500.00. The purchase of the new patrol vehicle was $20,734.00, which left town having to pay only $1,162.17 out of the current budget to purchase the new Dodge Charger.
